Today we completed a small but important asphalt patch repair and some bitumen crack sealing in Beecroft Road, Beecroft for a private residence. As you can see from the pictures, the fairly steep driveway had some long thin cracking throughout its length with some areas of localised crocodile skin cracking. The crocodile cracking got its name from the way the asphalt looks, which is similar to the pattern of crocodile skin with discrete irregular shaped segments of cracked and broken asphalt all neatly bunched together.
This type of cracked and broken asphalt can stay this way, in some cases, for a very long time before it finally fails and becomes a pothole, or it can break out the next time it rains after some vehicle traffic passing over it.
In relation to this job, it was decided to seal most of the existing cracks in the driveway and to remove and replace a patch of crocodile cracking that was failing. We decided to apply bitumen sealer to the join between the old asphalt and the new asphalt patch to prevent water from entering and undermining the new patch.
Thanks to our technician Jordan for a job well done and thank you very much to the private customer in Beecroft for engaging us to complete their works.
